Food author dazzled TV audiance
with some cheese and wine talk
Joe David, author of Gourmet Getaways, shared his views on food and wine on ABC-TV News. During his appearance, he highlighed information about a scheduled food and wine pairing event in Virginia. Appearing at the wine and food festival were noted local chefs, wine producers, and sommeliers. Together, they talked about how to release the big flavor in food by pairing it with the right wine.
A very important lesson that David learned while researching his book was how to release the big flavor in food?
“One way," according to food author, "is to magnify the special taste of each ingredient by sautéing it or roasting it before introducing it to the other foods in the recipe. When successfully done, it will create rich and memorable layers of flavor to the meal. The Japanese call this magic, umami.”
David who spent a year traveling America interviewing chefs has written a book that identifies some of the leading cooking programs in the country – the chefs, their philosophy, their recipes and more. Susan Sterling, writing for ChefTalk, summarized what other reviewers confirmed. Gourmet Getaways, 50 Top Spots to Cook and Learn, is a “pretty nifty book.”
All cheeses served during the ABC-TV show are from Wegmans, Gainesville, Virginia.
